Fairs of Rajasthan

The land of Rajasthan is known for its cultural activities, i.e., fairs and festivals of Rajasthan, which bring joy, experiences, and memories to people of all age groups. With multiple forms of art, colors, dance, and traditional culture at one place, these events help promote the local traditions and heritage, which are significant for the people residing there.

1. Pushkar Fair

Pushkar fair is famous fair of Rajasthan which is also known as Pushkar Mela or Pushkar Camel Fair where camels dressed in colorful attire, which takes place once in a year, with a wide variety of market size, tourism, sound, different dance forms, sights, people around the world gather at this fair.

2. Desert Festival 


It’s all about the camel parade. Different competitions and shows are held at Jaisalmer such as the turban-tying contest, mustache competition, camel races, puppet show etc., The event concludes with a fireworks show, lighting up the desert sky.Here tourists visit from across the world. The activities which have been helding in the form of events in Rajasthan here are a bit fascinating for tourists

3. Kaila Devi Fair

The goddess kaila devi fair is quit a different fair among all fairs mention above, here devotees do kanak dandoti which means devotees lie down and draw the line then start dandoti from the marked line and repeat the same process until they reach the goddess kaila devi’s temple to pray for wealth. Music, dance, stalls, rides and different performances can also be seen. It is held for 2 weeks in the month of chaitra.

4. Karni Mata fair

Karni mata is one of the avatars of Goddess Durga. Karni mata fair held twice in a year (March – April) is a huge fair that is celebrated during navratras, at karni mata temple you will witness umpteen rats in the temple, people believe that glimpse of a white rat is a blessing and fortune for one.

5. Baneshwar Fair

The Baneshwar fair celebrates tribal culture, communities lifestyle, tradition etc., which is held at Baneshwar temple, this fair is sortoff a kumbh mela for tribals where worshipers come across India to visit the temple. Here are some Modern festivals of Rajasthan as well.

These festivals mentioned above are basically celebrated to keep the culture alive in people’s heart and mind, for upcoming generations the culture, religion, tradition, art, vision etc., are significant to pass on.
