Festivals list of Rajasthan are celebrated on a high volume and the state is rich in culture, tradition, history, hospitality, and is majorly famous for  Festivals of Rajasthan, fairs and the numerous variety of customs, rituals and faith for festive celebration, which are followed by the people of Rajasthan.

Rajasthani have named the festivals in their language as ‘Rajasthan ke pramukh tyoharwhich is the epitome of harmony, happiness, and also to remember the reason behind the celebration of each festival so that they can pass onto their coming generation the values of their culture, tradition, significance and to keep them reminding about their roots which is the ultimate goal. Through the Rajasthan festival names all of them are explained below

Historic forts, architecture, handicrafts & textiles, Rajasthani cuisine, spiritual places, unique shopping, wildlife sanctuaries etc., 

List Of Festivals In Rajasthan:

Few districts of Rajasthan which celebrates the ‘Rajasthan utsav’ with full enthusiasm are: Ajmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur etc., the festivals list of Rajasthan are as follows:

1. Teej Festival  – Celebrated by married women’s 

Teej festival is majorly celebrated by the married women’s but unmarried also worship for their husband’s wellbeing, get dressed in traditional attire with all the 16 shringar and coloured leheriya sarees, heena  on hands, women’s take blessings of goddess parvati for wedded bliss. Teej festival is an important festival of Rajasthan. In Rajasthan such festivals are celebrated on a larger level.

2. Gangaur Festival  – Marital happiness 

Gangaur festival is  one of the traditional festival of Rajasthan, celebrated for marital happiness where both married and unmarried women’s worship for healthy relationship with husband and is celebrated once in a year and its compulsory for newly married women’s. The Worship process of this festival is  that 2 women’s paired in front of Gangaur idol which is made up of sand and pray for their spouse & marital life. This is one of the biggest events of Rajasthan, this occasion is celebrated with full joy and willingness.

3. Holi Festival  – victory of good over evil

Holi festival is one of the traditional festivals which is the celebration for ( HOLIKA DEHEN ) winning good over evil, which is celebrated in Rajasthan in a colourful way, people play with colors called gulal, water balloons, water gun and get the experience of tasting thandai and a variety of sweets.

    4. Diwali Festival – Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya 

    Diwali is the festival which is celebrated wholeheartedly by plenty of people cause this was the day when lord Rama’s came back to Ayodhya with goddess Sita after defeating the Ravana, on this day people decorates their homes with diyas, lighting, rangoli etc., worship goddess Lakshmi with sugarcane, silver coin on which goddess lakshmi and lord ganesh are drawn and other puja items as well, that’s how it celebrated in Rajasthan. People gather to enjoy traditional festivals of Rajasthan with friends and family for celebration while playing with firecrackers.

      1. Sankranti Festival  – Kite Festival

      Sankranti festival is a kite-flying festival when people experience the sky full of vibrant coloured kites which is flown according to the air’s direction, people usually get on their terrace and flew the kite and compete with each other while cutting kites in sky and enjoy while screaming “ WO KAATE ’’ which means to announce the winner. The name is also known as Makar Sankranti. One of the famous festivals in January which people of Rajasthan get crazy about and wait for every year.

      1. Janmashtami Festival  – Birth of Lord Krishna 

      This festival is a Hindu festival which is celebrated because this was the 8th Avatar of lord Krishna on the earth and to honour the lord Krishna it has been celebrated, On this day temples are beautifully  decorated with diyas & flowers, dhai handi events of Rajasthan are prepared to welcome lord Krishna which people really enjoy.       1.  Navratri Festival 

      The festival is a tribute to goddess Durga for winning good over evil. The meaning of Navratri festival is NAV – NINE and RATRI – NIGHT it’s named because the festival is celebrated for 9 days, Garba and Dandiya nights are the famous events in Rajasthan as well, which are held during this festive season, visiting temples, devotees fasting for 9 days for goddess Durga and much more.

      1. Dussehra Festival

      Dussehra festival is a famous festival of Rajasthan which is also known as Vijayadashami which is celebrated because of the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana as Ravana was defeated by Rama, Which means victory of good over evil. And Hindu celebrate this festival while burning 10 faces of Ravana in a single body, with its negative energies, impact on the devotees etc., every year.

      1. Marwar Festival 

      Marwar festival is important festival of Rajasthan which is celebrated with Rajasthani folk music, dance performances, cultural performances like Ghoomar, Kalbeliya, and Tera Tali etc., while wearing their costumes as per the tradition, culture, camel and horse shows, turban tying competition, light and sound shows etc., it’s one of the most interesting festivals of Jodhpur.       1. Udaipur Mewar Festival

      All the women’s on Udaipur Mewar Festival get dressed in their traditional attire with the idols of goddess Gauri while carrying all the Puja items and head towards the pichola lake through the streets, then place the idols on the decorated boats. Then celebrate marriages on this auspicious day, also enjoy Fairework, light shows, handicrafts exhibitions can also be seen here.

      1.  Elephant Festival 

      This is celebrated so that the significance of elephants can be celebrated through all the Rajasthani and it has become a part of their culture. On this day the festival is celebrated while painting elephants and are decorated with different jewellery sets, clothes, and other accessories for the elephant parade.       1.  Matsya Festival

      Matsya Festival is celebrated for the glorious past of Alwar city which is a district of Rajasthan. It also tells about the cultural heritage, tradition and history of it. Different dance forms can be seen here during the festive season like Ghoomar, Kalbeliya, and Kachhi Ghodi, patrades of elephants, horses, camel etc., many more activities can be seen at Fairs of Rajasthan. Huge variety of Rajasthani cuisine can be experienced that is Dal baati churma, gatte ki sabzi etc., the festival is celebrated. For event visit Company Bagh.
